FEMME EP - 1 Year Anniversary!

A story of female empowerment - a woman who finds herself despite heartbreak and betrayal. Lydia Lyon and Nubian producer MO3Z take your on a sonic journey through Afrobeat, New Jack Swing, and Deep House. Revisit the magic today.

Lydia Lyon’s debut EP ‘Femme’ released December 12th, 2020 with an enticing new take on afro, house, and the hot nostalgia of 90s new jack swing. Perhaps equally as exciting is the same-day drop of her premiere music video for the EP single, ‘Trust Issues’. After having had a year of highlights, with her afro-pop single ‘Excuse-Moi’ being selected for airtime on BBC Radio, multiple original releases on Soave Records, and collaborations with notable Spinnin’ Records artists, ‘Femme’ comes at a perfect highpoint for a potent impact on her audience.

Fierce, sexy, and unapologetic, ‘Femme’ tells no ordinary love story of feelings hurt and relationships lost, but instead lets us know that she has her mind made up about putting some respect on her heart first and foremost. An incredible marriage of cultures brings about a fresh international sound to the vein of pop and electronic music. MO3Z, the Nubian-American producer, label founder, and percussionist hits hard with a well-rounded soundscape of African and American influenced productions that really drape this work in unique vibrancy. The combo of the savvy and uninhibited songwriting of Lydia Lyon and the fiery compositions of MO3Z really create a sonically profound experience for a new decade. Notably, on the first song of the EP, entitled ‘Mess Around’, the Midas touch of South African singer, Gene Blaze, can be heard, completing a perfect coast-to-coast circle of musical talent. Soon to follow, a music video will emerge through a bi-continental effort from Blaze and Lyon to tell the beautiful story of an emerging and unfamiliar new love.

Lyon hears her artistic voice being portrayed flawlessly and effortlessly throughout this EP. The curation of sound, the cultivation of courage, and the conviction of heart to fearlessly exhibit all she is and the promise of who she will become has been masterfully transmitted within the messaging of this work.

Lyon wants us to know that being an artist is never easy, being a woman in this world is an art form, and being human is a beautiful complication. For more about this sentiment, listen intently to her soulful and determined violin playing and the story of her heart in the EP intro, as its message runs rampant and deliberately through the songwriting of this breakout EP, that will undoubtedly set new precedent for her future releases.

Reaching beyond borders with this international collective of song and soul, Lydia Lyon shares her evolution into the word ‘Femme’ as she rounds the corner into and new musical decade with passion and verve. See her ever-growing metamorphosis on Spotify.
